Il Tramezzino is an Italian lunchcafé in the always busy Haarlemmerstraat. The Haarlemmerstraat is a nice street near central station with all kinds of small clothing boutiques, nice bars, cafes and artshops. Because I worked nearby, I used to  have lunch and/or drinks in this neighbourhood and I have to say Il Tramezzino is one of the best lunch places to go to. You can sit inside on cozy couches or you can do take away. I used to sit here for 45 minutes because the atmosphere is really relaxed. On the menu of course the name of the place.  A tramezzino is an Italian sandwich made of soft bread with fresh ingredients and herbs from the land.

My top personal favorites are:

the tonno e uova: homemade tunasalad with eggs

Paremse: parmaham, mozzarella and grilled eggplant

The classic bresaola: bresaola (dried Italian pure meat), rocket salad and Parmesan cheese

Pollo e pesto: homemade chicken with pesto and tomatoes.

Besides tramezzino’s you can get panini’s, fresh Italian pies and you can order an broad range of Italian products for your homecooking skills.  It’s worth your while to buy some pastrami, prosciuto or excellent buffalo mozzarella.

Il Tramezzino is worth a visit when you’re in the city center and you got the munchies real bad!
