The official launch of the tulip season takes place on Saturday, January 19 at the Dam in Amsterdam. In a specially constructed tulip garden on the Dam, anyone can go flower picking for free. Last year, this garden was visited by over 10.000 passers and tourists. The tulip garden is open from 13.30 until 18.00.

Every year, an estimated 1.7 billion Dutch bring a welcome touch of spring to households and businesses all over the globe. The inaugural edition of the National Tulip Day in 2012 saw Dutch tulip growers create a massive temporary garden on Dam Square, bursting with around 200.000 tulips
