Yesterday Ajax became champion of the Netherlands! By winning the match against VVV Venlo with 2-0, they had enough points advantage on their pursuers and won the championship of the season 2011-2012. Ajax won their 31st national title in their history, which is the most wins ever in Dutch soccer history.

The Amsterdam ArenA was fully packed and the atmosphere was great as everybody knew this match was the championship match. The match wasn’t the best match of the season, but with two goals of Siem de Jong the championship was secured! The whole stadium was singing and cheering their lungs out form the first till the last minute.

After the match Ajax received the champions trophy which was handed out to captain Jan Vertonghen by former goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg. After the photo moments the Ajax players did a lap of honor to thank all the fans. During these festivities the big stadium lights wre turned of and only a spotlight was pointed at the winners. This was a beautiful moment and the atmosphere got even better than it already was!

The next day the team of Ajax was honored by 50 000 fans next to the Amsterdam ArenA. On a big stage each player was presented and was holding the trophy. The fans and players were supported by Dutch artists like Peter Beense, Kees Prins and Dre Hazes.

With 50 000 fans this homage was less crowded than last year. The homage of last year was on the Museum square and was visited by approximately 100 000 people.
