Since the temperatures are much higher than usual for this time of the year the early spring bloomers are already going ahead. In 2011 began the so-called spring 20 days earlier than normal.

The summer was the second earliest ever and the fall was almost two weeks later than usual.

According to The Nature Calendar there’s already one year of weather extremes with remarkably dry and very wet periods. Animals and plants show aberrant, and unique behaviors.

For hay fever sufferers, the very early spring is bad news, as hazel and alder pollen can cause many allergy complaints. During the past year they were lucky because the combination of an extremely dry spring and a very wet summer set the number of pollen in the summer about 60 percent lower than other years.
