In the heart of the Jordaan, the centre of the city centre, you’ll find a lot of nice restaurants, bars and old fashioned buildings. On the Elandsgracht, where you can also find the famous statue of Johnny Jordaan and his family, there is an Italian restaurant named Palladio. Palladio is being run by Italians, the complete staff is from Italy. So be aware that you’re stepping into a real Italian restaurant. You’ll immediately feel at home, like you’re in Italy enjoying their fantastic food! We got a table with the kitchen in sight so we could watch how and what they we’re making. This made our appetite even bigger. You can order an excellent house wine for 20 plus Euros or you can go with the more expensive ones of 60,70 or 80 Euros. This time I chose the Barolo and that was an excellent choice. The waiter knew what he was doing because he treated the wine like his first wife (this was a comment from the man himself). We ordered an ‘anti –  pasti’ as a starter, a ‘primi piatti’ and a secondi piatti. The anti pasti was an eggplant dish straight out of the oven with fresh basil and mozzarella. You could taste the fresh ingredients. Because we could see the kitchen you noticed that everything was freshly made. A relief to see. The ‘primi piatti’ was a risotto with shrimps. As a ‘secondi piatti’ a saltimbocca was served. All the dishes had an excellent original taste. The dessert, a homemade tiramisu, had a homemade taste. Palladio is an excellent choice for who wants to have an all night dinner with friends of your lover. I have to admit, Palladio isn’t a cheap restaurant but really worth it!
