Apenkooi is a big party on queens day, Carnivale and format organizes club nights in club air (see Club Air) Plak and vage gasten do their thing in numerous clubs and the nachtspelen have a big party in de westerunie, a club in the west of Amsterdam nearby the westergasfabriek.

The location is a bit out of the centre. You have to take subway 53 to the last! stop. This will take you about 40 minutes. The 2011 edition was a warm one and there is no airco in the subway in Amsterdam so you do the math. Not really nice. Golden rule when visiting a festival (in Amsterdam): come really early or come late. When you come in between you’re likely to be stuck in lines, very long lines. It took us about 45 minutes to get in and about 45 minutes to get tokens. Not really a good start of a festival but in the end it was worth it. The playground was small enough and you had cool little paths through the woods that lead you from one stage to the other.  The choice of music was big. From the dubstep of brutuzz till the minimal bangers of pan-pot, everybody could find his of hers favorite tunes.

The beer and the food isn’t that expensive and the ticket was surprisingly cheap; around 25 Euros.

The 2011 edition was the first one and a successful one so the organization is definitely going to throw another one somewhere in the beginning of June 2012. For tickets keep your eyes on our website!!!
