After the massively successful premiere of Amsterdam Open Air in 2011, it was clear that a follow up was inevitable. The sequel in recreational area Gaasperpark will mark the beginning of the outdoor season in Amsterdam on Whitsun weekend, Saturday May 26th and Sunday May 27th. This edition will be expanded: what began as a one day festival has developed into a full weekender, with space to stay the night at the nearby camping site!

Amsterdam Open Air The Weekender is an initiative of AIR and MTV, along with a number of leading organizations in Amsterdam. This program will be, like last year, an authentic cross section of the metropolitan nightlife.

When divergent characters join forces, arises naturally a joyous pandemonium. The four main stages hosted by Apenkooi, Carnivale, Format and GirlsLoveDJs. On the smaller stages make Pleinvrees, Nachtspelen, Cable and Midnight Freaks complete the party. In this way breaks the Amsterdam Open Air festivals where musical boundaries usually have to deal with. Both the nature and the sound of the festival will also vary firmly on both days.

Because every organization is faithful to one’s own character is a multitude of genres including deep house, dubstep, electro, tech house and techno, extensively discussed. The Amsterdam Open Air is actually a quest through the contemporary musical landscape. A festive reflection of what Amsterdam has to offer currently. Check the line-up HERE!

Amsterdam Open Air gives visitors the opportunity to visit the festival two days. The main advantage of this new approach is that twice as much music can be programmed. More acts, more styles, and more room for musical talent..

The campsite plays a big role in the whole. The landscape of recreation ground Gaasperpark is ideal for putting down an amazing festival. The mix of trees, hills and fresh water, the festival is never overwhelming, and always surprising.

And just like last year, Amsterdam Open Air again easily accessible via Underground Line 53. See you there!
