Today, Wednesday the 4th of April, her Majesty the Queen will perform the official opening at 21.00. The new film museum at the IJ. A spectacular light show and a tribute by the patrol boats of the Amsterdam Water Police will make the festive opening spectacular.

From the jetties at the various ferry services across the IJ, the Harbor House and the Ibis Hotel at the Ruijterkade, the grand opening of the new film museum is easily to follow for the public.

The men of the Amsterdam Water Police, with a water show, will pay tribute to the arrival of the Film Museum to the Northern part of Amsterdam, which after years can now have its own cinema.

A spectacular light show set, using combined laser beams, will put the design of the Viennese architects Delugan Meissl in the spotlights. All lines, angles and cantilevered winding of the new building are dramatically lit and the contours and the impressive size of the design visible to everyone.

The new film museum with four comfortable screening rooms, 1.200 square meters of exhibition space, generous view over the IJ, is by other museums and institutions already described as “the new jewel in the crown of cultural Amsterdam”.

Experience the opening of this palace for the cinema! Come in the evening of  Wednesday the 4th of April to the bank of the IJ behind Central Station!
